Halloween '09

Hi Everyone!
We apologize for the long break from blogging! I hope to be back more regularly at this and hope you enjoy a few scenes from our Halloween week--
Brookie-bear was Dorothy and had a ball. She loved the dress, the red shiny shoes, and maybe most of all... todo. Now, every dog she sees is, of course, "To-do!"

Brooke and Ashley at our Trunk or treat
How fun to see a toddler Dorothy and a more grown-up Dorothy!

Family snapshot after trunk or treat

Getting Brooke to smile that night for any picture was IMPOSSIBLE!

Next...

A trip to a local school's Pumkpkin Patch for FHE. Not fabulous pictures because the sun was setting but we had fun. I particularly admire my husband's eyes in this picture. :)

Next came Halloween Night... and a funny story to go along with it which merited one of the labels of this post (sorry, Brent).
We decided the night before that we would make homemade dry ice root beer for our dinner get together with friends before trick or treating. We were at the store buying all of the stuff, only to go to quite a few different stores to find root beer extract. Brent started the rootbeer and put the dry ice in so it could start brewing. About an hour later, he tasted it and decided it needed more sugar. He added some but felt it still needed more. My little canister of sugar was empty so he got into my big buckets that I have in the pantry of flour, sugar, oats, etc. He added some more and tasted it and about fell over from disgust. HE ACCIDENTALLY ADDED SALT!!! Sad part was, we had to be at our friends' house in 15 minutes and he was determined to still do the root beer! He ran out the door to the store only to get there and find out they were completely out of dry ice as well as the nearest Walmart! Haha!! Quite the series of VERY unfortunate events!! Guess, we'll try again next year.
ANYWAY--on to Halloween...

right before we left for trick or treating
We had a great time going this year! Brooke was a little more into it than last and our neighborhood was quiet but gave great candy. Our next door neighbors rented a bounce house and all the kids loved it. It was a fun way to end the night.

We went back to some friends' and we all put our kids down, while raiding their candy, playing games until midnight and having homemade gingersnap pumpkin ice cream sandwiches. I think I just may be onto this Halloween thing now....
