Back in K-town

For those that aren't from "K-town" and that don't know, a lot of people from Kaysville refer to it as "K-town. Okay. Maybe not a lot of people do, but my friends and I did in High School. So it's always natural to call it that each time I come home. It's fun to be here! We're making the most of this time we have before Brent is tied down to corporate life with AT&T. It's funny to be back in the home I grew up in with my own child, living here for a short time. But my parents have been wonderful, and I have only them to thank for letting us stay here. Here's a random, in-no-particular-order, jumbled up post of pictures showing what we've been up to:
I went out to dinner with a few of my girlfriends from High School. Wow! I am amazed at how even though we all have changed and grown into our own a little more, we can always get together and pick up where we left off, and we are close because we have such awesome memories together. We were missing about 10 others, but it was still fun.
Me, Jordan who is cute and prego, Emily, Jamie, and Nicole, who is also cute and prego

I also got to meet up with Jenae for a short time, and she stayed the night at my parent's with her little girl. Some may remember a birthday shout out post to her a few months back. We became great friends our senior year and spent a year and a half as college roommates. And Brooke just LOVED Jenae. Can you tell by this picture of them?
Jenae, and I with Brooke and Ella, who is 13 months

Brent has been helping out around my parents house. Trimming the hedge outside was a huge job! He made it look just perfect.

Oh, and this is exciting. My little sister's missionary came home last week! I have loved being here and being privy to all that has taken place. I think they are such a darling couple. And hey-I'm hoping it works out. :)

My grandma was recently diagnosed with breast cancer for the THIRD time. What an amazing women, eh? My cousins ran the Race for the Cure in Salt Lake in honor of her. You can read about that here and here. I got to drive her to her last radiation treatment in Salt Lake. They put a cap on her and took a "graduation" picture at the cancer center. I had such a great time taking her. We talked about everything. If you know her, you know she really can talk about EVERYTHING. :)

Brooke has been having a blast with all these people around. I'm a little worried for when we get to Texas and it's just Brooke and me at home all day again. I hope she'll adjust alright. She's getting lots of time in with Grammie Lou and Grandpa Dave. We'll make it down to visit the Guerisoli side in a few weeks.

I am really loving this age for her right now! She does the cutest things but she's not walking yet. This picture of what she's doing with my Mom is a good example of what she does when she sees people. She sticks her hand out like she's greeting them, or saying, "here I am!" This week she starting saying Ma-ma and Da-da which I just love, of course. She's got a great laugh, too. Just a happy, little baby, soon-to-be-one year old!

She also smiles great for the camera. Brent held out the camera and took this. Look at how perfect she looks!

And this has got to be the best pic ever. We didn't even tell her to do anything and she is totally CHEESING it! I might need to frame this or something.

They Accepted-

As of about 45 minutes ago, the owners of the home we put an offer on two days ago have accepted!! We spent all week with our realtor and looked at about 45 homes in north San Antonio. On friday morning (basically our last day to look with her and we hadn't found anything we really loved), I decided to check Craigslist. I had been checking it every week or so for the past couple of months to get an idea of what was out there. I clicked on a particular listing that interested me and was stunned at what I saw! They were very motivated sellers trying to get out of their home because the husband was on his way to Afghanistan. The pictures were just what we'd been looking for, it was less than a year old, it was in our price range, and it included all the stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite counters, washer and dryer, flatscreen in the master bedroom, security system and sprinkler system only to name a few. I was ecstatic! I called the owner and set up an appointment for that afternoon. We didn't let our realtor know because we just didn't know exactly what would happen and at that point we hadn't signed a contract with our realtor for her to exclusively represent us. Well, we went and saw it and just when we walked in and were standing in the entry, Brent and I both knew it was the house we had been wanting and looking for all week. The only problem was that the owners were trying to get out of their contract with their realtor thus who would pay our realtor? We didn't want to get stuck with realtor fees! After a long weekend of going back and forth and a few very intense conversations with our realtor because she tried desperately to get us to buy another house, we worked everything out with her. We made our offer on Monday, they countered yesterday, we came back this morning with a compromise and they accepted this afternoon. PHEW! My goodness! We are SO excited for this! And the best part is: part of our negotiating was for some of the furniture in the house that is less than a year old! Brent did great at negotiating and it was really fun to see him put into real life some of that "stuff" he's been learing for the past two years in MBA school. I love the furniture and we're getting it at a third of the price that they bought if for less than a year ago. Awesome, huh? Now we have to just do all that stuff to close while we are in Utah. Should be pretty busy. I'll write more later and sorry for the lack of pictures lately especially of Brookie. More updates soon!

Hey Y'all--

We have been one busy family of Bg's! After a fun and exhausting week of saying goodbye to many friends, having our apartment packed, the movers being 5 hours late to load the truck, me flying with Brooke to Utah and Brent making the 11 hour drive by himself: we made it and are moved out of the bay area. I had a good cry the night before. It will always be a special place for me. And there are a few friends that I think may still read my blog that I didn't get to say a proper goodbye to but let's still keep in touch, please. We spent two days resting up for our next airplane ride to San Antonio on the mornng of Memorial day. When we stepped off the airplane, man that Texas heat made me quite claustrophic. But, I feel like I'm already getting used to it. This is our first time even coming to the Lonestar state and I will say that it's true what they say...

It's pretty awesome, though! We're excited about it. We've been very busy spending all day working with our realtor (who is fabulous and we found her off of ldsagents.com) and it is tiring to look at houses! I have floorplans all jumbled in my head and feel like they all look the same after awhile, but nonetheless, I think we're getting closer. We come home on Sunday and hopefully by then we will have it narrowed down to THE house. We haven't taken any pictures because of the business but Brooke is doing pretty well other than struggling a little at night to sleep. She loves being able to crawl around the houses for a few minutes at a time. Well, it's late but I wanted to update that we made it out of Berkeley into Utah and onto San Antonio for our first house-hunting trip. Pretty dang cool to think of living in a house. Y'all come back to our blog now, y'hear? See we're already in on the lingo. G'night for now.

The 3 bg's are busy... well, mostly one of us is

With the change of the leaves and weather that fall usually brings, it has also brought a lot of business to our little household, mostly for Brent. I always associate fall with going back to school and this is the first time that I have not been in school or working, so it's still kind of new being at home! Brent has been in school for about a month and a half and is SO busy.. I think the busiest I've ever seen him. He has school, work, he's in charge of a healthcare conference at the business school in January, he's in Young Men's, he plays intramurals, and is also starting to look for jobs! He often hangs out with Brooke while he's studying because that's what he has time for right now. But she loves just sitting with him. She is always so content when she's with her Daddy. I'm really grateful for Brent for always making time with her. He stayed up really late a few nights ago finishing homework because he sang to her and played with her before I put her to bed. What a great guy he is!

Brooke and I have been busy this week... busy trying to catch up on sleep!! So, she was doing so well with sleeping and then at the beginning of this week decided she didn't really like sleep. It has been a struggle getting her to sleep every night. She isn't fussy or crying, she is just wide awake and wants to play and smile. And her naps are a little off, too. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's taken a toll on my level of productivity this week. I have been a total zombie, because she has been up in the night like she is a newborn again. Hopefully things will begin to improve. Maybe I need to go get a bunch of sleeping books and study up. Anway, I still managed to take this cute picture the other day. I love how she just looks like she's chillin'. I'll let you know how the sleep thing goes.
