Halloween and a really "scary" story to top it off!

How many policeman and firetrucks does it take to get a car unlocked with a dancing baby inside? Yes, this really did happen to us over the weekend! BUT... I can't tell the story until I post about Halloween. Post about Halloween?? Yeah, I'm sure anyone really wants to read about it, right? It feels like it was forever ago, and I don't know what happened to blogging about it! My sister reminded me last night that it had been awhile since I posted. I was a slacker last week! Sometimes we all need weeks like that, though.

Brooke was a ladybug and wore her costume three times. We went to a neighbor's AWESOME HALLOWEEN PARTY the weekend before Halloween. For details, see here! It was amazing all that they had set up. I've said this before: I'm not big into Halloween and this party helped me get into the spirit. Very creative people here in Texas... :)

Our next festivity was carving pumpkins and making caramel apples. Brent and I had never done either of these things together! Weird, huh? Good times.
We had Grant and Alyssa over. The babies were.. playing, I think. Cheesy, timed, pumpkin shot!

The next night was the ward trunk or treat, and costume wearing #2, where all of us dressed up! So I think I was partly nervous to put pictures of the three of us dressed up on our blog because I have seen such amazing costumes on other blogs, and ours were.. well.. sorta homemade, but thank you LAUREN for the idea!

Alyssa, Kendee, and me. Kendee's family dressed up as the incredibles. Incredible. :)

Here we are! The three BG's as three bugs. BUTTERFLY, LADYBUG, BUMBLEBEE. Good as it's gonna get, guys.

Trunk or treating

My parents arrived just as Halloween night began. We had a good dinner, and were off to take Brooke trick or treating! It felt weird to be walking around a neighborhood. It kind of hit me that we live in one. Plus, growing up, we sort of lived in they country... so my Mom had to drive us from house to house on Halloween!

In front of our door.

Darling as a ladybug, right?
So that was our Halloween!
Okay.
On to the "scary" story that I referred to at the beginning of this post.
Saturday night.
While I was making dinner Brent took Brooke to go get the mail. It's at the other end of the street we live on.. 4 houses away. All of her clothes were in the washer, and she only had a shirt and diaper on. He didn't want to walk outside without her having pants on (he is modest, I do it all the time) and so he decided to drive. Yes, drive. Four houses away. Funny husband. Even better: he sat her in the passenger seat. Wait. He didn't think it was ok to walk down the street with her in a diaper but that it was ok to sit her in the passenger seat of the car? What was his logic?!?!? Next thing I know, he runs in the house asking where the other key is. I told him that it was in my purse, which was in the car. He then casually let me know that Brooke was locked in the car! WHAT??? This is one of the MAJOR differences between my husband and me. He is not emotional, and does not ever get worked up. And I do! He was not even worried about it! Luckily it was about 70 degrees so not hot, but it was getting dark, and we had no spare key, both were IN the car. He went to a neighbor's house while I tried to talk to Brooke. The car was idling so she had turned the radio on and was dancing/swaying back and forth to Jingle Bells. HA! None of the neighbors were too much help, so seconds later, of course, I called 911. They connected me with Pop-a-lock, and told me they had no idea how long it would take to get one of their technicians out. OH BOY. 10 minutes later, FOUR police cars and one firetruck showed up! Thinking it was more of an emergency than it was, they rushed to our car and then seeing that Brooke was just playing around with the buttons, everyone stood around! We had to shine the flashlight in the car because it was getting dark. She started whining and yelling and Brent and I were trying desperately to get her to push the window button to roll down. 45 minutes later, with people surrounding the car, she finally did! Really! I guess in a way Brent was right from the beginning. We should have tried a little harder to get her to do that at the first, but I panicked and could not think straight. But the best part of this happening is, usually things like this happen to me and they are labeled on this blog, "my own stupidity." This time, it was Brent's stupidity. hahaha! Love you, Babe! Another life lesson learned in the Guerisoli home.
p.s. While my parents were here, my Dad and Brent went to see HSM:3 with me. Am I a lucky girl or what?

Too funny!!! I think I would be pretty freaked out too. I am surprised she lasted for 45 mintues without having a fit. Maddie's attention span isn't that long, alhtough she does lvoe the car. I wonder if she would have rolled the window down? Good job Brookie!!!

Love the costumes! Nothing wrong with homemade and you all look really cute.

So cute!! I love that you were all bugs! Brookie is such a cutie. The car experience would have been awful, I'm glad it turned out well, stuff like that will happen to all of us sometime!

So, mom and dad told us this story last night at family dinner with g&g and Jaimee and Scott. We all loved hearing about it! It reminded me of the time I locked my keys in the car while it was running and R&S were little and they were in their carseats and I felt like a complete
F-O-O-L! I had to call a locksmith!

Oh my gosh that's a great story! I did the same thing once, at the library... fortunately a nice man saw the whole thing, and as soon as he saw me NOT open my car door, and my panicked look, he hopped out and helped me squeeze my arm through the cracked open window and unlock the door! Scary! Also I LOVE your Halloween costumes! I was also a ladybug when I was her age!

I am pretty sure you commented on my fear and embarrassment when I shared my story about locking Maggie in the car when she was only a couple months old. I can definitely relate to your experience. I'm glad that Brooke was happy and finally got the directions, what a good idea! We were in costco parking lot and Maggie screamed the whole time! All in all - I think it was much more traumatizing for me than it was for her!
